Ze Lopes at Jim Stewart's Tennis Academy“Enthusiasm, hard work and fun, in equal measure!” – that's zestful Zé's recipe for tennis success. His passion is infectious, enthusing children and adults and with the sense of satisfaction and sheer enjoyment of the game.

Qualified to ITF / FPT Level 2, Zé coached for 7 years in his native city of Porto before heading south to run the Vilamoura tennis centre, then finally settling at Jim Stewart's.  As a junior player he was the national inter-club Under-12s champion. Nowadays he still competes at Futures ATP tournaments. At Jim Stewart's he is Club Captain for the Mens 35s, 45s and 55s teams; also for the Juniors Under-10s, U-12s and U-14s.

Zé has trained numerous national players from Portugal, UK, Ireland and Brazil, and is also proud to tell - albeit tongue-in-cheek - of a practice session once with John McEnroe: “He was one of my better sparring partners”...!

With a positive approach to life that embraces diverse pursuits such as surfing, rugby, yoga and fine arts, tennis is still Zé's real passion and vocation: “My ambition is to develop a player able to compete at ATP / WTA level.”

Hana Tkadlecova, Customer Service Manager

Hana at Jim Stewart's Tennis Academy

Hana is JSTA's welcoming front-of-house face, her role covering all activities in the daily running of the academy: organising bookings, coaching schedules, shop sales - plus behind-the-scenes administration.

From the Czech Republic, Hana studied Human & Social Sciences at university in her homeland but came to Faro University in 2008 as part of a student exchange programme. After graduating, the lure of the Algarve's sunshine lifestyle proved too strong to resist, so she settled and joined the tennis academy, where her calm assurance and winning smile has made her an integral and focal part of the team.

Min Spieres, Accounting Assistant

Min Spieres, Jim Stewart's Tennis Academy in Quinta do Lago

A long-time resident of the Algarve, with broad experience in retail and business accounts, Min is responsible for the Accounts & Administration at JSTA.

Although only working at the Academy on a part-time basis, nonetheless Min is up with the larks at 6am every morning, as a dedicated practitioner of yoga – which in the case of a woman, she informs us, is known a 'yogini'....

It is perhaps this inner calm that is Min's inscrutable secret in keeping the books balanced...?
